About Energy Ratings A house energy rating provides an in-depth look into how much heating and cooling a dwelling requires. The rating can be anywhere between 0 and 10 stars - the higher the star rating, the more efficient the building will perform. The assessment takes into account the construction materials, the orientation of the building, the climate zone, shading structures and insulating materials.
